Corporación Multi Inversiones continues to bet on the development of the region and increases its flour production capacity in Guatemala by 35% as part of its commitment to food security in the country.

Guatemala, November 19, 2021. Within the framework of 100 years of good stories to tell, Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI) inaugurated its new flour mill located in the Molinos Modernos complex. This inauguration adds to the milestones that CMI has achieved throughout its 100-year history.

The construction of the mill began at the end of 2019, and despite the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020, it is today a reality that translates into technological innovation with the highest levels and international standards.   

 “This new mill is a concrete example of how at CMI we make our purpose of feeding the world to fill it with well-being a reality. It will bring sustainable development and impact, collaborating with food security with safe and quality products, in sufficient quantities for everyone”, indicated José Gregorio Baquero, CEO of CMI Foods..

With this investment, CMI's flour production capacity in Guatemala is increased by 35%, making this complex the largest of the Corporation in Central America and the Caribbean. The facilities of the new mill include silos for wheat and flour, a building where the mill is located, and the infrastructure for the packing houses.

85 years in the milling industry 

CMI's industrial operations began in 1936, when Don Juan Bautista Gutiérrez founded the corporation's first wheat mill. This business unit has 25 flour mills in Central America and the Caribbean, creates more than 2,600 direct jobs and has a portfolio of 60 brands of strong, semi-strong, soft flour and industrial premixes.

Proud of our 85-year history in the milling industry, this time we increased our production capacity by 35% to continue offering the best products for everyone”, highlighted Daniel Maldonado, General Director of Harinas.

With this new mill, CMI consolidates its regional leadership in the flour business, offers technological efficiency and processes that guarantee high quality and safety standards, contributing to food security in Guatemala and the region.
