CMI celebrates 100 years of sustainable innovation and development in the region

May 12 2021

The history of Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI) begins in a family store in 1920 located in San Cristóbal, Totonicapán, hand in hand with Juan Bautista Gutiérrez who, at the age of 14 (in 1910), arrived in Guatemala from Spain. Today it is a multi-Latin company that celebrates its 100 years of experience with achievements such as presence in 15 countries and with more than 40 thousand collaborators.

Currently, the Corporation is led by the third generation of the family who, through their business groups: Food and Capital, seek to create sustainable impact in the communities where they operate.

The CMI Foods catalog exceeds 170 brands of products and services, outstanding among which are the wheat and corn flour milling businesses, the production of pasta, sauces and cookies, the poultry, pork, processed and sausage manufacturing industry, balanced food for animals and pets and the restaurant industry, with its Pollo Campero hallmark brand, among others.

On the other hand, CMI Capital includes renewable electric power generation, real estate projects and financial service businesses.

“At CMI we believe and act based on one of don Juanito's great teachings "Don't leave for tomorrow what you can do today." Today, a century later, we continue working with the same enthusiasm and passion to preserve the legacy and commitment of our grandfather and of all the people who build a better CMI every day: a CMI that allows us to transcend as a family and deliver well-being and joy to the region with our products and services,” said Juan José Gutiérrez Mayorga, President Chairman of CMI Foods.

Juan Luis Bosch Gutiérrez, President-Chairman of CMI Capital said that CMI's success story "has as a common denominator: the values that our grandfather, Juan Bautista Gutiérrez, instilled in us as a family and as a company, as well as innovation." Day by day, CMI experiences the acronym: REIR, which stands for Responsibility, Excellence, Integrity and Respect.

“With the celebration of these first 100 years, we thank our clients, collaborators, and the region, for opening the doors of their homes to us and allowing us to go beyond our current position, to a new chapter in the history of CMI”, added the President Chairman of CMI Capital.
